    To advance the geochemical sciences by developing new techniques and applying established methods to address topics relevant to society. History of Geochemistry at ISGS Chemistry has been a major discipline at the Illinois State Geological Survey (ISGS) since its inception. The indirect methods of subsurface explorations are used extensively and involve application of geophysical techniques for obtaining fairly accurate idea of subsurface geology. Objectives of Subsurface Investigation 1. Identify and delineate geologic units 2. Describe the unites systematically: Include information on field identification.
